Our home is quiet, silent actually… except for the sound of the birds singing gently outside this fall morning. I look around and see remnants of an earlier time when our family came together every morning, afternoon and evening. It was a house full of chatter, music, athletic gear, school books, binders and messy rooms. A period when it felt as if all spare time was devoted to cooking, shuttling children to and fro and attending child related activities. Oh, how we miss it all!
The energy and enthusiasm of youth, it is infectious, captivating and very much missed. Now is an uncharted new stage in our lives. Our children have fledged as they should and we have to adjust, just as we did when our children first arrived. We have to be the generators of energy and enthusiasm that promotes fun, excitement and new purpose in our own lives.
